Smarte Carte wins new contract with Changi Airport

Singapore 22 April 2014 – Ed Rudis, CEO of Smarte Carte Inc announced that Smarte Carte Singapore has commenced operations as the new baggage cart/trolley, wheelchair, stroller and porterage management service provider at Singapore Changi Airport from 31st March 2014.  Initially Smarte Carte will be responsible for Terminal 1.  Terminals 2 and 3 will be added to Smarte Carte’s operation and management from 15 July 2014.

Singapore Changi Airport has 8,500 landside cart/trolleys and 3,500 airside trolleys that service nearly 54 million passengers per annum who have in excess of 64 million pieces of luggage each year.

Skytrax World Airport Awards recently named Singapore Changi the World’s Best Airport in 2013 for the fourth time.  Arthur Spring, VP Business Development for Smarte Carte, said “it’s wonderful to be given the opportunity to work with one of the world’s five busiest airports”.

Scott Levy, Smarte Carte’s MD Asia Pacific, said “Smarte Carte looks forward to assisting Changi Airport continue to improve its customer service as well as improve operational efficiency at the Airport with regard to trolleys”.

With over 100 airlines providing connectivity to 280 cities worldwide, Singapore Changi Airport handles approximately 6,800 flights each week, or about one flight every 90 seconds.  This opportunity will give Smarte Carte an expandable base into Singapore as well as Asia in general.

Nearly 100 staff has been employed for the commencement of operations in Terminal 1 and that will expand to nearly 200 with Terminals 2 and 3 coming under Smarte Carte’s control in mid-July.  A range of technical, mechanical and cultural strategies have been implemented by Smarte Carte in the workplace to provide efficiencies within the airport environment so as to ultimately enhance the passenger’s experience over time.
