The Security Of Biometric Finger Scan Access

Smarte Locke’s biometric access technology personalizes each locker rental with a finger scan, ensuring that only the renter can reopen the locker. Smarte Locke® biometric electronic lockers meet all the security requirements for public storage lockers at airports set forth in Directive 400,45.3-2 by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

TSA Directive 400,45.3-2
•

Airport lockers must be in sterile areas

•

Locker technology must restrict access to a single identifiable individual

•

Lockers must be subjected to frequent inspection by TSA personnel

•

Vendor must maintain operations and inspection records

Smarte Locke ®
•  All Smarte Locke lockers are located within the sterile area
•  All Smarte Locke lockers use biometric ID devices to identify user
•  Smarte Locke lockers are easily accessed by TSA and management personnel, are cleared of all items every 48 hours and have an immediate emergency open/shut down feature.
•  Smarte Locke lockers maintain a complete history log of operations, usage and fingerprint data on a remote host PC.

Touch-screen menus lead customers through the locker rental process that includes giving two fingerprint scans via a device embedded in the locker rental station. The finger scan information is stored and directly correlated to the individual locker rented. When the customer returns to retrieve items from the locker, another finger scan is taken and matched to the first scans for verification. Once a match is confirmed, the locker is opened and items can be removed.

Fingerprints can be stored temporarily, until the customer has returned and ended their rental, and then discarded, or the information can be downloaded to the Host PC to create a database of prints.
