Ed Rudis
President & CEO

Ed Rudis joined Smarte Carte in 1999 as Senior Vice President. In November 2001, Ed was promoted to President and CEO. Since joining the company, Ed has successfully implemented several organizational and operational changes aimed toward improving service to clients and customers.

Ed has an extensive background in airport concessions management having worked for Host Marriott Corporation for over seventeen years. At Host Marriott, he served as General Manager, Director and most recently, as Vice President of Operations, Midwest Region where he managed and developed retail restaurant concessions in airports. Ed is a graduate of Southwestern Illinois College.

Jim Meyer
Vice President & CFO
Jim Meyer (CPA) joined Smarte Carte in 1994 as Corporate Controller and was promoted to Vice President and Corporate Controller in 1997 and CFO in 2007. Jim is responsible for managing all aspects of the company's financial and accounting areas. Prior to joining Smarte Carte, Jim was a senior manager at Ernst & Young, LLP in Minneapolis. Jim received his accounting degree from St. John's University and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas.

 

 

John Carr
Vice President & General Counsel
John Carr joined Smarte Carte in December 2001 as Vice President and General Counsel, with responsibility for the company's corporate and legal compliance programs. John has 25 years of background experience with airport related industries. He has previously served as Chief Counsel, Business Development for HMS Host Corporation, as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Caterair International Corporation and as Assistant General Counsel for Marriott Corporation's In-Flite Services Division. John received his law degree from George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC and graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA with a degree in history.

 

Phil Hagberg
Vice President & COO
Phil Hagberg joined Smarte Carte in March of 2004 as Vice President of Engineering and Manufacturing. In February of 2005 he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations and Manufacturing. In 2008 Phil was promoted to Chief Operating Officer responsible for all global operations. Prior to joining Smarte Carte Phil was Vice President of Global Manufacturing with Tennant Company. Phil has a Business degree from Concordia University.

 

Arthur F. Spring
Senior Vice President of Business Development
Arthur joined Smarte Carte in 2001 as Vice President of European Development and Operations. He established Smarte Carte's European base of Operations in France and the position soon grew to include responsibility for Smarte Carte's Australia and China operations.

In July 2006, Arthur was promoted to Senior Vice President of Business Development and International Operations responsible for business development at North American airports, as well as continuing both business development and operations for all lines of business worldwide.

Arthur came to Smarte Carte from HMS Host Corporation where he held the position of Vice President of Development in Europe. Prior to that he served as Vice President of Finance - International Operations at HMS Host. Arthur has a Bachelors of Arts in History from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an MIA in International Finance from Columbia University.
